Dr Marohasy has a Bachelor of Science (University of Queensland 1984) and a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Queensland 1998). She also has a commercial drone licence (RePL 2019) and advanced open water certification in scuba diving (PADI 2024).
Dr Marohasy has over 40 years’ experience collecting, analysing and interpreting scientific information. Much of this work is published in the peer-reviewed scientific literature.

She began her career in the 1980s as a field biologist in Madagascar, worked for a period implementing an environmental audit for the Queensland sugar industry, and has taught climate modelling using big data techniques with the Indonesian Bureau of Meteorology. More recently she has measured and documented mega-fauna at the Great Barrier Reef.

As a senior fellow at the Institute of Public Affair, Dr Marohasy came to understand the workings of conservative politics in the West, including attending conferences in London and New York. She edited three technical books for the IPA on climate change, one of which was a bestseller.
After the catastrophic flooding of Brisbane in 2011, Dr Marohasy pioneered a new technique for monthly rainfall forecasting using artificial neural networks, a form of AI. That work involved a knowledge of key variables affecting weather and climate developed from years of observation and reading, the application of big data techniques along with her skills in applying traditional scientific methods.

Dr Marohasy’s innovative research in rainfall forecasting resulted in a dozen publications in peer-reviewed international climate science journals and conference proceedings from 2012 to 2017.

She is extended this work to developing a new theory of climate resilience.
Jennifer Marohasy has trained in Jungian psychology specifically she has a certificate in the Majors Personality Type Inventory and is studying at Adelaide University to be qualified as a psychologist.

Her particular interest is in climate psychology. Psychology departments across the West increasingly diagnose "climate anxiety" (also called eco-anxiety) as a valid response to the perceived existential threat of climate change, treating it as a rational reaction to a real global crisis, studying its impacts and offering interventions. If, however, it is all exaggerated because of an increasing disconnect with the natural world and because we are living in an age filled with fake apocalyptic images of universal destruction, then it is possible that in not so many years’ times, there might be group therapies to address “eco-hypochondria” or “collective misinformation effects”.
To get to the truth real scientists derive facts from the puzzle of evidence and put this altogether as a theory. A reasonable test of the value of any scientific theory is its ability to predict things, like droughts and floods. The dominant climate theory, human-caused global warming, has no skill at forecasting weather and climate but it persists because it has tremendous political utility.

Dr Marohasy’s new theory of climate resilience doesn’t deny that the climate changes or that carbon dioxide absorbs long wave radiation, it is more complicated: based on dynamical systems theory and acknowledges natural climate change. This is an altogether different way of thinking about weather and climate. Her new theory has six planks that can be fitted together. For example, ‘evaporation and precipitation’ are mechanisms for preventing the tropical oceans from overheating. In describing these processes, plank # 1, she is building on the mathematics of Joanne Simpson and Herbert Riehl. Plank #2 focuses on ice as a cooling energy storage system, with masses of it in Antarctica. Her new theory of climate resilience makes a distinction between internal variables and external drivers, with gravitational effects as an external driver and the focus of plank #3 specifically a force called the Moon’s Tidal Push. This is a subsurface wave across the Pacific Ocean that varies in amplitude and frequency driven primarily by changes in the moon’s declination cycle.
