March Against Democracy

March Against Democracy

JULIA Gillard promised, if she was elected, that there would be no carbon tax. Tony Abbot promised, if he was elected, that he would scrap the carbon tax. But the learned ignorant promote mass action to get their way, all the while claiming tolerance, and respect for democracy. march rally

Many of the posters on display at the 'March in March' rallies today, in which tens of thousand gathered in Australia cities to boo capitalists and lament the lack of action on climate change, clearly showed the prejudices of the increasingly vocal, Australian inner city pseudo-intellectual.

As Carl Jung wrote in about 1957, "People go on blithely organizing and believing in the sovereign remedy of mass action, without the least consciousness of the fact that the most powerful organizations can be maintained only by the greatest ruthlessness of their leaders and the cheapest slogans."

Nick Cater's book, entitled 'The Lucky Culture: The Rise of an Australian Ruling Class', gives great insight into the totems and prejudices of these self-labelled 'progressives'.

  1. Bazza I exercise every day because I have to as part of survival, but I now enjoy it very much. But bazza must be the only bloke on the planet who doesn't understand there has been a pause.

BTW here's more evidence about the Labor/ union thugs idea of corrupt democracy at work. Even a Labor premier wasn't immune from this bloke's threats. Hurry up the royal commission into their thuggery please.

"It looks like we could be having a real debate about saturated fats in our diet thanks to a new study that can’t find a connection with heart disease etc."

Speaking of saturated fats . . . Whadayaknow? I wrote about this very topic a few years ago, and updated it in March of 2013. It turns out that goobermint-funded health 'authorities' are not particularly honest. Shades of AGW. Here are the opening lines:

"We Americans love our heroes, and we love to hate our villains. Health authorities are all too happy to cater to these tastes. Willy-nilly, the legend of the Saturated Fat Monster has gained a cult following, rivaling that of Darth Vader himself."

  3. Bazza,
Even the 'mainstream' is recognising a 'pause' or a 'hiatus' or I have even seen it termed as 'a transient slowdown of surface warming'.
The real issue is of course the causal link or correlation with human CO2 emissions that underpin the projections in climate modelling. For the last 10 to 15+ yrears. . .
The climate doesn't seem to be cooperating with the much touted trends.

    "what pause, Larry?"

The pesky data from UAH and other sources show a period of at least 15 years of a ZERO warming trend. (Others, like Christopher Monckton, put the figure at 17.5 years.) This inconvenient truth has generated a schism within the Warmist faithful. Some, like Kevin Trenberth, are covering their arses, and pretending that the 'missing heat' is somehow hiding out at the bottom of the ocean.

How did it get there in the first place? And how on Earth did Trenberth and Susan Solomon ever survive P-chem?

Other goobermint-funded Warmist 'scientists' are continuing the Big Lie.

I'm guessing that some of them are planning to retire before they become laughingstocks. They may also be hoping that timely retirements will allow statutes of limitations for fraud to expire.

Cohenite, what are your your thoughts on this legal aspect?

"Most science is settled so exceptions are useless ( bit repetitive, I know)"

Still living in the 19th Century, are we? 'Settled science' is an oxymoron. Science that has ossified over time, and which does not take new findings into account, no longer qualifies as science; instead it has mutated into secular religion. Ditto for phony doomsday prophesies that are based upon massively diddled 'data'. I recommend that you have a stiff drink before reading this Feynman quote:

"Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts."

Does any knowledgeable person doubt which side of the CAGW 'debate' Feynman would favour if he had defeated the Big C, and was still with us today? Can you say, "Cargo Cult Science?"

Analysis of a scientific issue is NOT about trotting out one's favourite maven (as most inner-city pseudo-intellectuals believe) -- not even Feynman -- and then saying, "Gotcha!" It's about what the current data are telling us. And that data has thoroughly falsfied the CAGW secular religion. Here's a current meme:

"If you can't explain The Pause, then you don't understand the cause."

Get over it, and get a life.

  6. It reminds me of 3 things Nev.
    Analogies are a useless argument.
Most science is settled so exceptions are useless ( bit repetitive, I know)
There is no science of subsystems. Health science like climate science demands a holistic approach - it is useless looking at single factors.
Game over Nev, even exxon has folded. Why don't you go outside and get some exercise.

  7. It looks like we could be having a real debate about saturated fats in our diet thanks to a new study that can't find a connection with heart disease etc.
This was settled science for at least 35 years . This is similar to the settled science in connection with the cause of stomach ulcers. But when the young scientists from W OZ first released their findings they suffered abuse from some scientists and doctors etc but they won the debate through careful ( self ) testing after a number of years. This was also settled science, but for at least 60 years.
Does this remind us of anything?
